Kerala Tourism to Benefit with Clearance of Visa on Arrival for Foreign Tourists

Kerala is soon going to be the gateway to India for holidaymakers coming from the 11 different
countries and tourists can get Visa on Arrival (T-VoA) as Kochi International Airport will join all the other airports from this August, to issue passport and visa on arrival to a dream vacation.

The country which has recently celebrated 66th Independence Day, tourists coming from Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, and Indonesia on arrival to Thiruvananthapuram and Cochin International airports can enjoy this facility to make the travel more smooth and enjoyable.

Union Home Ministry has issued notification, T-VoA to Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Hyderabad and Bangalore airports in addition to Delhi, i Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai airports, official sources told The Hindu.
Exclusive desks

This facility is sure to bring positive response to the tourism of Kerala. Infrastructure facilities as mandated by the Bureau of Immigration (BOI), functioning under the supervision of the Ministry of Home, were created last year in Thiruvananthapura and Cochin International airports and the state tourism and the airport authorities and department were enthusiastically waiting for this to come in effect soon.

For this special arrangements are done and holding area has been created in the immigration area, exclusive visa desks, special enclosure for  photographing, foreign nationals, foreign exchange counter, signage and display, telephone connections have also been installed in place by the (AAI) Airports Authority of India and Cochin International Airport Ltd.

Intelligence Bureau (IB) operate the immigration counters at the two airports, IB officials will also take care of the exclusive visa desks. Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Director V.N. Chandran and Cochin International Airport Director A.C.k. Nair said, they were enthusiastically waiting for the clearance and for the day to commence of the Visa on Arrival and this is going to add more benefit to the tourism as there will be more arrival of tourists.

The Union Ministry of External Affairs has already gave approval for the citizens of France, Germany, Russia and nod from BOI and the final notification are awaited.

The plan was introduced as a part of the Union Ministry of Tourism to extend the numbers of tourists visit e specially foreign tourists visiting the country in the three or four years, VoI is expected to give a boost the mushrooming tourism sector of Kerala and help stake  holders get tourists round the year. In the year 2012, the state registered 7.93 lakhs of foreign tourists, earning foreign exchange of 4,548 crores in foreign exchange. The recently policy made in public targest 30 lakhs tourists arrival by the year 2021.

Validity of 30 days
Along with this facility, there are certain provisions and restrictions put up by the tourism department and AAI. Tourists can only use this Visa on Arrival for a maximum of 30 days. BOI norms has certain objectives and it is allows tourists to use this for recreation, sightseeing, meeting friends or relatives and no other purpose is allowed apart from these.
Those applying for visa should not have any occupation in India nor have residence and they should have a passport with minimum of 6months validity.
