Meghamalai a Perfect Pictruesque Place for Weekend Tours

people planning a weekend holiday. One of the perfect spot for weekend holiday close to the city is Meghamalai in Theni district where one can have some quality time and get in touch with the nature.

Meghamalai is a mist covered hilly range situated in Theni district, at 1,500 m above sea level. The place is renowned for its tea plantation. Here you can enjoy the scenic views of lush green forests and valleys. Sivaraman, a tourist says, “Up to now, we supposed Kodaikanal to be the only weekend spot. But, after visiting Meghamalai, we are glad to find an optional place to resurrect”.

Meghamalai hills are the beginning point of river Suruli. Thus, the twin waterfalls situated at its path is persistent throughout the year. A tourist guide, Karthhikeyan explains, “The tourism officials help the visitors to a get clearer view of the wilderness of this place. Due to the presence of water around the year, some of the wild inhabitants such as the spotted dear and guar, frequently come to the place during the sunrise and sunset.” Leaving the waterfalls, the chief attraction of Meghamalai is the Vellimalai. An enthusiastic tourist guide states, “It is the place from where the River Vaigai commences and the hills are also an abode to six dams, including the Manalar dam from where one can see the Cumbam valley. A weekend outing of enthralling details is only an hr away from our daily life style.”

A haven for rare species

Kamala Devi, a student who has returned from the recent visit of the place, says, “Wild animals are seen next to the foothills.” She adds, “The hills features a large extend of tea and coffee plantations that is surrounded by the fragrance of spices. However, the path narrows down as we near the top of the hill and makes way for the dense woods. The place also offers a perfect spot for bird watching as various species of birds including the great Indian horn-hills can be spotted over here. Still, the most exciting part of the tour would be to get a view of a tiger in the region.” Kamala informs that though there may be a bit of a problem .

Meghamalai is a place of natural magnificence, featured with cardamom and tea plantations. All of these characters and much more certainly provide you an ideal weekend holiday particularly during summer.
