Itinerary
Day: 01 Kumarakom : Upon arrival at Cochin
airport / railway station, our representative will meet you, and
transfer you to Kumarakom (100Kms / 2Hrs). On arrival at Kumarakom
visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and later check in at the hotel.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Kumarakom
Day 02:
Kumarakom- Breakfast and morning at leisure at resort, in
the evening go for Sunset cruise (optional) or enjoy the beauty of
backwater by just relaxing near Vembanadu Lake. Overnight stay at
the resort.
Day:03: Cochin (Departure) After
a good breakfast at 0900 Hrs check out from the resort and transfer
you to Cochin – airport(100 km /2 hrs) / Railway station to
board the flight / train to onward destination. End of Tour /
services.
Kumarakom
Kumarakom is located at a distance of 14 kms from
Kottayam and is a group of small islands on the fresh water lake
Vembanad Lake and a pretty, clean village like most places in
Kerala. In 1878, George Alfred Baker, a missionary from Essex,
England, set about clearing the mangrove and planted coconut trees.
Baker was so taken aback by the beauty of Kumarakom that he
determined to make it his home and worked for the development of
this area. The abundant green vegetation and the climate attract a
number of tourists to this place The Lake is a delightful picnic
spot and a fast developing backwater tourism destination in India,
provides boating, fishing and sightseeing.
Kumarakom is a
protected area for indigenous and migratory birds. The main
attraction in this area is the beautiful Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
spread across 14 acres. It is a favorite haunt of migratory birds
such as egrets, darters, herons, teal, waterfowl, cuckoo, wild duck
and migratory birds like the Siberian stork and various other
species of birds and reptiles which are in the endangered list. Boat
trips offer visitors the chance to get closer to the habitats of
these birds without destroying anything of their delicate ecosystem.

Temperatures vary between 25ºC - 38ºC.
Attractions:
The Vembanadu Lake is a pleasant picnic spot for the eyes
with its traditional country crafts or Kettuvallams floating up and
down. The lake and its surrounding area can be best explored on a
houseboat.
Pathiramanal Pathiramanal is a
small island, or Midnight Sands commonly known is worth a visit for
its natural beauty.
Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
It is spread over 14-acres and is a favorite haunt of migratory and
other water birds such as waterfowl, water ducks, cuckoos, wild
ducks etc and migratory birds like the Siberian Crane etc.
Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls, 2 Km from Kumarakom its
beautiful picturesque and water roar while cascading down the
mountains.
