Alappuzha Beach

Bekal Beach :

The Bekal Beach is located near Bekal Fort. This fort is one of the best-maintained historic forts in Kerala. Situated on a headland that extends for 35 acres and reaches into the Arabian Sea, the Bekal Fort occupies a commanding position on a promontory. The Bekal Beach extends on either side, with stretches of clear sand flanked by rows of elegant palm trees. The view from the Bekal Fort of the green palms, the white sand, the blue sea and the rolling waves is truly breathtaking.

Beypore Beach :
Situated at the mouth of the Chaliyar River in Kozhikode district, Beypore, one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient Kerala. It was an important trade and maritime centre. Ancient Beypore was much sought after by merchants from Western Asia, for its ship building industry.
The boat building yard here is famous for the construction of the Uru, the traditional Arabian trading vessel. Peace and serenity wrap you in a warm embrace as you relax at the Beypore beach and gaze into the vast blue expanse of the Arabian sea.

Cherai Beach
Cherai Beachis a beach in the Cherai village of Ernakulam district of Kerala, south India. Cherai is a part of Vypin Island.15 km long Cherai Beach is the best clean golden beach of Kerala and is rightly called “The Princess of the Queen of the Arabian sea”. 45 kms from Ernakulam city, this lovely beach is ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Dharmadam Island
Dharmadam Island (Green Island) is a small 2 hectare private island in the Kannur District of Kerala, southern India. It lies 100 metres from the mainland at Dharmadam. This island, covered with coconut palms and dense bush is a beautiful sight from the Muzhappilangad beach. During low tide, one can walk out to it from the beach. Permission is required to land on the island as it is privately owned. Dharmadam, known earlier as Dharmapattanam, was a Buddhist stronghold.

Ezhimala Beach
At an altitude of 286 m and 55 km from Kannur , Ezhimala is one of the places which are recorded in the most ancient History of Northern Kerala. The beautiful beach here has a hillock nearby (286 m high). Carved stone pillars and an ancient burial chamber can be seen at the foot of the hills. The hills are noted for rare medicinal herbs. A naval academy is also being developed here. Permission is required for entry. There is also an ancient mosque on a hill nearby.

Fort Kochi Beach

Kappad Beach :
Located at a distance of 16 km from the Kozikode town, the Kappad beach is wrapped in a sheet of history. This is the historic beach where Vasco-da-Gama landed on the 27th of May 1498, with 170 men in three vessels. A monument on the beach commemorates this historic event. The rock studded beach is locally known as Kappakadavu. An interesting feature of the landscape is the sprawling rock that protrudes into the sea. The temple on the rock is believed to be 800 years old. Today, Kappad attracts a whole lot of visitors desirous of knowing more about the Portuguese and the native Indians of that time. Also, the unblemished beauty and serenity of the beach is something that is intact despite increasing tourism.
The beach is gentle and partly. To the tourist, however, this little sea faring town is like a heaven. The best route to Kappad is along the backwaters. Un-spoilt and un-crowded, the picturesque backwaters of Kozhikode offer a bewitching experience. A ride down the backwaters through the Korappuzha River brings you to the beach.

Kovalam Beach
Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea in Kerala, a state in south India. It is located around 16 km outside Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) City in the Thiruvananthapuram district.Kovalam is a world-famous, popular beach which has been a favorite spot for tourists since 1930s. This beach has lovely coconut palms fringe the golden sands. Foreigners throng Ayurvedic parlors, yoga and meditation centers, that have sprung up all over the place. There are a number of beach resorts in and around Kovalam. The sea port of Vizhinjam is about 3 km away and famous for its special varieties of fish, old Hindu temples, big churches and a Muslim shrine.
Kovalam has three crescent shaped beaches separated by rocky outcroppings. Shallow waters stretching for hundreds of metres are ideal for swimming. The beaches have steep palm covered headlands and are lined with shops that offer all kinds of goods and services.
The larger of the beaches is called Light House Beach for its 35 metre high light house which towers over it atop Kurumkal hillock. The second largest one is Hawah Beach named thus for the topless European women who used to throng there. It was the first topless beach in India. Topfree bathing and parading is banned now except in private coves owned by resorts. Visitors frequent these two beaches. The northern part of the beach is known as Samudra Beach in tourism parlance.

You can see the ruins of an Old Portuguese fort and churches built in the 18th century. One of the major attractions is the Thangasseri Lighthouse, open to all visitors. The Thangasseri beach is 3km long and is 5km from Kollam.
The Thangasseri Light house was first used in 1902 and is 144 ft tall which used to warn the seafarers about the dangerous reefs in the Thangasseri coastline. It is open to the public from 1530 to 1730. Thangasseri, once favoured by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British has its place in history due to the destructions of their old forts.
