Beckal is located 18 km from Kasaragod in the northern most part of Kerala. Commonly identified as the land of Gods this place looks more like a fairy land.

Main Attraction

The 300 year old Bekal Fort built in 1650AD by Shivappa Nayaka of Bednore. This fort was also used by Tipu Sultan and his troops, as one of the most important military base to capture Malabar.

Bekal is known as the land of Gods and it nearly looks like a magical land. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, historical forts and rivers, it is considered one of the best places to visit in Kerala. We can see the Arabian Sea on the west and the Western Ghats on the east and this view is simply breath taking. 

The 300 year old Bekal Fort mainly dominates this region as it marks some of the most remarkable events in Indian History. The greenery and the exotic wildlife add to the beauty of the place.

What to see in Bekal Fort

At the Bekal fort besides sightseeing the 300 year old fort, some of the other places you must visit are the great Anjaneya Hanuman temple, the very old mosque built by Tipu Sultan, the Observation tower, the Sea Bastion & the Underground passages leading to the different parts of the great fort and the Seaside Pathway that connects to various beaches in that area.

Best time to visit

Although Bekal is flocked by keen tourists all year round, however, the best season to visit this place is during winters, as this is when the weather is cool and pleasant to do all the walking needed.
